Overview

Review the owner brief, urgent finance work, business pulse, and preloaded forecast scenarios from one decision-focused page.

Overview answers a practical owner question: what should the team do next to make more money, lose less money, and plan before cash gets tight? It combines current balances with period-based revenue, profit, burn, health, forecast, and action data, then links each issue to the page where it can be resolved.

Prerequisites

  • Sign in to an Eigenn workspace.
  • Connect bank accounts before relying on Cash or Runway.
  • Sync transactions and invoices before reviewing revenue, profit, receivables, or action items.
  • Add enough historical activity for burn, runway, prior-period comparisons, and business health to be meaningful.

Open Overview

Choose Overview in the primary sidebar. The same decision page is also available from Finances → Overview.

Choose the Reporting Period

Use Reporting period before reading the page. Available presets are:

  • Last 4 weeks
  • Last 3 months
  • Last 6 months
  • Last 12 months
  • Month to date
  • Year to date
  • All time
  • Custom range

Custom range adds From and To date fields. The selection updates the period-based reports across the page.

All time currently begins on January 1, 2020.

Cash balance is a current account total rather than a historical period total. The selected period still affects the average burn shown beneath it and the other report and forecast calculations.

Read the Page in Order

1. Owner brief

Owner brief leads with the highest-priority open action when one exists. It also shows the overall business-health score and the weakest of these signals:

  • revenue growth,
  • expense control,
  • cash flow, or
  • profitability.

When no action is open, the brief calls out the weakest signal. When health cannot be scored, it shows not scored yet and treats data coverage as the first issue to resolve.

2. Do these first

Do these first shows up to three of the highest-priority action items. Select an item to open its authoritative work area.

FindingDestination
overdue invoicesInvoices
broken payment promises, failed payments, missing autopay, or risky termsReceivables
over-budget activityFinances → Reports
bank connection errorsSettings → Account → Bank Connections
expiring cardsCustomers

If no item is returned, the page shows Nothing urgent is blocking cash right now. This is an action-queue state, not a guarantee that every ledger record is correct.

3. Business pulse

The four pulse cards are:

  • Revenue for current-period revenue and change from the prior period
  • Profit for current-period profit and change from the prior period
  • Cash for current connected-account balance and average monthly burn
  • Runway for estimated months at the current burn

When the prior period is zero or unavailable, Revenue or Profit shows No prior-period signal instead of an invalid percentage.

Runway guidance uses these page thresholds:

RunwayPage guidance
3 months or lesscash is tight; stress-test delays and expense cuts now
more than 3 and up to 6 monthswatch cash before hiring, spending, or extending terms
more than 6 monthsrunway is workable; test major commitments first
unavailableconnect accounts and forecast cash

Use the eye icon beside Runway to create a daily watcher. Choose a comparator and threshold, then choose Create watcher. Alerts from this control land in Workspace → Approvals.

4. Decision panels

Overview organizes the next layer into three decision panels.

Make more money

This panel shows next month's revenue projection, or current revenue when a projection is unavailable. It can include up to two receivables actions. Choose Work receivables to open Invoices.

Lose less money

This panel shows current profit and calls out over-budget or bank-connection issues. Choose Review spend to open Finances → Reports.

Plan what may be coming

This panel shows projected revenue over the next six months, monthly growth, and runway guidance. Choose Run stress test to open the forecast workbench with a combined-downside scenario already applied.

The scenario changes the planning view; it does not change your ledger or execute a financial action.

5. Forecast before committing

This section shows the count and amount of currently unpaid invoices beside two choices:

  • Test those payments arriving late opens Forecast with a slow-collections scenario applied.
  • Open forecast workbench opens the full forecast page without that preloaded delay scenario.

Use these controls before hiring, adding spend, changing payment terms, or making another material commitment.

Recommended Review Workflow

  1. Open Overview.
  2. Set the reporting period and confirm the dates.
  3. Read Owner brief without acting yet.
  4. Open each item under Do these first and verify the source record.
  5. Compare Revenue, Profit, Cash, and Runway for contradictions or missing data.
  6. Work the most relevant decision panel.
  7. Run the preloaded stress test before a material commitment.
  8. Return to Overview and confirm the remaining queue reflects the work completed.

What Success Looks Like

An Overview review is complete when:

  • the period matches the decision being made,
  • cash and runway have current bank data,
  • the top action has been verified in its owning page,
  • receivables and spend owners know their next actions,
  • a material commitment has been tested in Forecast, and
  • unresolved thresholds are covered by a watcher or a named owner.

Limitations

  • Overview summarizes records; it is not the ledger, invoice register, or bank-connection manager.
  • The priority queue shows at most three items even when more are open.
  • Decision panels show at most two actions in each supported action bucket.
  • Missing data is often represented by zero, Unknown, not scored yet, or no action. Verify the source before interpreting those states as an all-clear.
  • Runway depends on cash and burn history. New or net-positive teams can have an unavailable or non-comparable runway result.
  • The page's forecast is a six-month projection. Forecast assumptions and detailed results live in Finances → Forecast.
  • Multi-currency decisions should be checked in the detailed account and report views rather than relying on a single summary total.

Troubleshooting

Cash is zero or Runway is unknown

Open Settings → Account → Bank Connections and confirm at least one account is connected and current. Then review Finances → Forecast for enough burn history.

Revenue or Profit has no prior-period signal

The prior comparison is zero or missing. Choose a longer reporting period or confirm that the preceding period contains synced transactions.

Business health is not scored yet

Add or sync the underlying revenue, expense, cash-flow, and profitability data. Overview will not invent a score when coverage is missing.

Do these first is empty but I know work exists

Open the owning page directly. The queue only includes supported action categories and depends on the selected period and synced report data.

The stress test opens with unexpected values

Run stress test intentionally preloads a combined-downside preset, while Test those payments arriving late preloads a slow-collections preset. Review the Forecast controls before interpreting the result.

A Runway watcher does not alert

Confirm the watcher is enabled and the threshold was actually crossed. Current watcher alerts appear in Workspace → Approvals. Ask support to confirm proactive Assistant processing is enabled if the watcher has never evaluated.
